About me

Hi, I’m Vanina. I’ve always been curious about how the world works, and how we can make it better. I studied social sciences and sustainability at the Universities of Geneva and Zurich, driven by a passion for reducing inequalities and bringing people together to find solutions that work for both people, the planet and businesses. I was born in Buenos Aires to a Peruvian mother and Argentine father, and my strong ties to Latin America continue to shape my perspective. I believe small actions matter because they can set off a chain reaction, inspiring others and building the momentum we need for lasting change.

About my professional experience

I work at the intersection of sustainability data and reporting. Over the past several years I have had the opportunity to see that world from four different angles: as an analyst at an ESG ratings agency, as a coordinator inside a bank's own CSR function, as a project officer helping build a global sustainable finance initiative at the United Nations, and now as a coordinator inside a Geneva Innovation ecosystem. Each role has added a different piece of the same puzzle: how sustainability information gets measured, scored, reported, and ultimately acted on.

I combine that experience with hands on technical skills, Python, R, and Power BI, and a set of certificates I pursued deliberately: CSRD, EU Taxonomy, Double Materiality Assessment, the GHG Protocol Scope 3 standard, and Life Cycle Assessment. I am a native French and Spanish speaker, fluent in English, with working German, and I hold a valid Swiss work permit. I am also a member of the Association des Spécialistes en Durabilité (ASD).

Work Experience

ECOSYSTEM ACTIVATION COORDINATOR | FEBruary 2026 - PRESENT

Geneva Research Lab for Digital Impact (GRL)

At GRL, a partnership between the University of Geneva and UNICEF's Impact Division, I support the coordination of events and partnerships that bring together researchers, the private sector, and civil society actors around digital and social innovation. I create content and manage promotion for these events across LinkedIn and other channels, draft communications and content calendars, help translate research outputs into accessible content for varied audiences, and led the migration and automation of the team's data architecture from Excel to Airtable.

  • End to end coordination of Geneva based events and partnerships.
  • Creation of communication content and promotion across LinkedIn and other channels.
  • Translation of event related research topics into accessible content for attendees.
  • Manage and maintain content calendars aligned with broader communications strategies.
  • Migration and automation of internal data systems from Excel to Airtable.

Independent certification track | August 2024 - January 2026

Between roles, I used the time to build out the technical and regulatory layer of my ESG expertise, completing five certifications while actively job searching: EU Taxonomy and Sustainable Finance (August 2024), Double Materiality Assessment and CSRD Reporting (November 2024), the GHG Protocol Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard (December 2024), Foundations of Data Science at EPFL (June 2025), and Life Cycle Assessment at MIT Professional Education (February 2026).

PROJECT OFFICER | NOVember 2022 – JULy 2024

United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges initiative (UN SSE) | UNCTAD

At the UN SSE, I worked on the initiative that encourages stock exchanges worldwide to improve corporate transparency and performance on ESG issues. I managed ESG data covering more than one hundred institutions, automated reporting workflows using Power BI and SharePoint, and led data collection and analysis for a global report on gender equality in corporate boards. I contributed to the development of a policy document on carbon markets, and delivered training on Gender Equality, the ISSB, GRI, and TCFD frameworks to private sector professionals. I also coordinated the migration of the organisation's website from WordPress to Drupal, managed social media presence across X, LinkedIn, and YouTube, and helped organise and run international events including COP28 and the World Investment Forum 2023 in the United Arab Emirates. I coordinated the global Ring the Bell for Gender Equality campaign in partnership with UN Women, IFC, and the UN Global Compact, and supervised a group of interns.

  • Contributed to the development of the document “How Exchanges Can Maximize the Opportunities of Carbon Markets”.
  • Led data collection and analysis for the 2024 report on gender equality in corporate boards.
  • Delivered training sessions on sustainability frameworks (ISSB, GRI, TCFD) to private-sector professionals.
  • Coordinated the high-profile campaign “Ring the Bell for Gender Equality”, fostering cross-sector partnerships to promote diversity.
  • Participation in and logistical management of conferences at COP28 and the World Investment Forum 2023, in UAE.
  • Collaborated with stakeholders such as regulatory bodies, stock exchanges, and private firms to advance ESG adoption and transparency.

CSR GRADUATE INTERN | FEB 2022 – OCT 2022

Banque Cantonale Vaudoise (BCV) | Lausanne

At BCV, I worked inside a regulated financial institution's own CSR function, which gave me a close view of how sustainability commitments get executed internally rather than just reported externally. I coordinated GHG emissions data collection, including Scope 3, analysed ESG ratings from MSCI, Inrate, and ISS, and prepared strategic recommendations for executive leadership. I contributed to the budget and timeline planning for a solar panel project proposal presented to the CSR committee, and managed the bank's mobility plan, including its Bike to Work initiative. I also worked on a biodiversity project to establish a mini forest on site, a paper reduction initiative, a ban on single use plastic cups, and internal awareness campaigns promoting low carbon transportation choices among employees.

  • Coordinated CSR data collection, including GHG emissions reporting in collaboration with consultants and auditors.
  • Analysed ESG ratings (MSCI, Inrate, ISS) and prepared strategic recommendations for executive leadership.
  • Conducted benchmarking of CSR communication strategies to align practices with industry standards.
  • Evaluated sustainable development policies to ensure compliance.
  • Managed the implementation of the bank’s mobility plan, promoting sustainable employee transportation solutions.

ESG ANALYST INTERN | SEPT 2018 – DEC 2018

Covalence SA | Geneva

Covalence is a small ESG ratings agency that analyses corporate controversies and ranks companies accordingly. This was my first exposure to sustainability data from the outside in, seeing how an independent rater builds a picture of a company's ESG performance from public information. I conducted data collection and coding on companies' ESG impacts, using criteria inspired by GRI principles.
